Shadows of the Night || - [Open]

[Lily Potter]

A small second year, fully-dressed in her Gryffindor robes exited Gryffindor Common Room as silently as possible. It had appeared empty, the only sign of movement being the dying embers in the fireplace and someone's cat going past her up to the girl's dormitories. Glancing at her watch she saw it was nearly midnight. Lily was seven floors up but it wasn't the first time she had sneaked out. The last time she had been caught and given punishment worse than normal. She had been assigned detention that included going into the Forbidden Forest, and she had never liked those. "Lumos," she murmured and the end of her Augurey feather wand lit, to the complaints of some of the sleeping portraits. As her light glinted on one of the suits of armor she saw her reflection looking back at her. It was blurred but she knew exactly how she looked.

She looked nothing like herself, quite literally. Her normally tanned, freckled complexion was now pale and lacked it's freckles. Her hair which was normally a few inches past it's shoulders, reached all the way to her waist at the moment, and it's normal fiery red was replaced with a pure black. Her eyebrows were slightly thicker and a bit further apart than normal. If you knew her well enough though, and were close to her, the most noticeable change would be her green eyes that were the exact shade of her dad's. It was one thing she always wanted, one thing to set her apart from her mom. Instead she looked like a duplicate- at least her dad had inherited the green eyes so he had something different.

She was thankful for being born a metamorphmagus. That way she could look how she wanted- sometimes she would do something like make her hair waist-long, as it currently was, unlike how her mom's had been in third year, or darken her eyes, add waves to the normally dead straight hair...something small that didn't give away her gift but set her apart slightly. Directing the light of the wand ahead of her instead, she made her way to the grounds, having to dodge a professor, and Mrs. Norris on the way. Her footsteps made almost no sound on the slightly damp, though as she wasn't bare feet she didn't notice it, grass.

Sure to go in the Shadows and glad her robes were black, she made it -hopefully- to the edge of the lake. If she was caught...well the result wouldn't be too good. She sat on the grass, finally noticing it was damp but paying no attention to it, and stared out into the waters. She could see it rippling slightly as if the giant squid had just surfaced and went back down into the deep waters. She remembered clearly going by boat across the same waters, terrified but excited. Despite her excitement she knew that if there was a house for those who felt sick...it would be for her. She smiled slightly at the memory.

[Narcissa Malfoy]

Narcissa had been fuming for days, ever since she found out that Scorpius liked that good for nothing goody two shoes potter. He said that he had actually loves her.... Loves her! Love was such a strong word and it was something that a lot of people have said that Narcissa will never understand. The weather was terrible and seemed to be reflecting Narcissa's mood. If it had been anyone else then Narcissa wouldn't care but it was Lily frigging Potter of all people. Lily hated all the Malfoys.... especially Narcissa and her Great Aunt Bellatrix. Unfortuatly for Narcissa Lily had learned that a quick way to wind Narcissa up was to say something about her Aunt Bellatrix.

She stormed out of the common room unable to sleep properly she was way too angry to sleep. She wanted to kill Lily.... literally. She had even given Mrs. Norris a good kick on her way down. How she had managed to avoid Filch after that she didn't know but so far she had managed it. She went out into the grounds, throwing some of her silvery blond hair over her shoulder. In the moonlight it looked more slivery than usual. She knew that if someone were to look out the window they would spot her straight away. So she pulled her hood up over her head. Hiding her hair. It made it harder for people to see her because she was wearing a black cloak.

She stopped near the black lake, She needed something that would release some of her anger. She had even hexed more people that got in her way because of it all but it didn't make any difference.... she just felt as angry as ever. Lily Potter better hope that she doesn't just bump into Narcissa because with the mood that she was in at that moment, it wouldn't be pretty.

"Nox," she muttered, putting out the light so it was not completely dark around her. Lily was aware of someone very angry being around...it was her Legimens kicking in. She looked around and saw someone in a black cloak no to far away, heading for the lake. Curious, she took out her wand again. "Legimens," she whispered, directing her wand at the girl. It was Narcissa, she knew what was going on in her mind. She was surprised she had gotten in as she had tried and failed before. Narcissa was angry her her. Something about Scorpius liking her...no, loving her.

She withdrew herself from the girl's mind and felt strange. Love? Maybe his feelings were deeper than she thought. Maybe hers was? No. How could she even think that? Glad she looked nothing like herself, she looked at her robes. It had the Gryffindor monogram on it. "Obsecuro," she said softly, and it was blocked off with what looked like a blind-fold like thing. She got up and tried to go somewhere else but instead she tripped over something- either a rock or the roots of a tree. She couldn't tell in the dark. There was one thing she could tell though. She had fallen at Narcissa's feet...literally.

Usually Narcissa kept her mind blocked off from everyone, Well she didn't want people going though her head. It was alright for her to do it to other people because well she was Narcissa Malfoy. She stepped back hardly jumping when someone fell in front of her. "What are you doing?" She asked coldly. Making sure that her own hood was still up. you could only really see Narcissa's pale blue eyes under the hood of her cloak.

"Falling aparently..." she muttered in response to Narcissa's cold question. She got up and dusted off her robes, but there was no need...it was slightly wetter from the damp grass but it hadn't gotten dirty. She glimpsed the pale blue eyes and hated the look Narcissa always had in it...well when she was in a bad mood which was pretty much the only mood she had around Lily. "I tripped...I don't suppose you have a problem with someone tripping do you, or is that too much for the self-absorbed Malfoy?" she asked, her currently green eyes glittering but it was not with joy.

Narcissa hated it when other people was sarcastic. Narcissa was sarcastic all the time so she couldn't really say much... they were only a few people she wasn't sarcastic to, Her father been one of them. Out of all the nasty things she did to other people the one person she should actually stand up to was her dad and she couldn't stand up to her father. She only did whatever he told her to do because she didn't want to disappoint him.

"Well when someone falls at my feet yeah I do have a problem with it" She folded her arms. 'Self-absorbed Malfoy!' Even though that was totally true and Narcissa couldn't deny it even if she tried... That girl had no right to say anything to her. She was sure that she hadn't seen her before but there was something..... just something about her that Narcissa knew.

Remembering Narcissa was furious Lily considered being...well, not trying to get herself in the Hospital Wing...most of the Malfoys seemed to cause that alot. Then again, it wasn't her fault Scorpius liked her. She didn't want him too...he was a Malfoy! Potters and Malfoys just...they weren't the best couple. Right? she asked herself but shook the question away. She smiled to herself when Narcissa repeated the insult. It had bothered her and after all the things Narcissa had ever done to her, she liked that. "Are you going to deny it?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

If looks could kill then Lily would have been dead a long time ago. "I am not Self-absorbed." Okay so she pretty was self-absorbed but there was also a side of Narcissa that only her siblings had seen. She folded her arms "Don't I know you?"

If Lily had been anyone other second year she would have backed away at the look Narcissa gave her. She was careful not to change her expression when Narcissa asked if she knew her. "No..thankfully. If you did then I would know you, and I'd rather face a Blast Ended Skrewt [[OOC; I think I spelt that wrong]] that be unfortunately enough to know you," she said. She couldn't help but look down at her robes to make sure her Gryffindor symbol was blocked by a piece of black fabric. It was, thankfully.

Getting tired of the dark she raised her wand. "Lumos." So it might attract teachers, or Filch but no one would recognise her. Like Narcissa did they'd think she looked familiar, but it would be impossible to recognise her.

Well obviously the girl in front of her wasn't a slytherin and there was only Yvana in Hufflepuff stupid enough to insult her. People in Ravenclaw tended to stay out of her way, So this girl was a probably a gryffindor... though she couldn't see the crest on her robes and she was pretty sure she hadn't seen her before but there was something familar that Narcissa just couldn't put her finger on and it was really starting to bug her. "a Blast Ended Skrewt? Come on, you can do better than that!" She said with smile. She wanted a reason to hex the girl... usually, she didn't care but she didn't know this girl... or at least she thought that she didn't know her. If she had known it was Lily Narcissa would have hexed her or had sent some curse at her the first moment she saw her.

"I know I can but why would I put in the effort for a Malfoy?" said Lily simply, throwing her wand in the air and catching it again so the light went out of focus and glinted all around them before lighting steadily in front of her once in her hand again. "Where's your wand Cissy?" she asked with a bit of a mocking tone in her voice. She knew the name Cissy was only used by family members as Gabriella didn't use it once her and Narcissa were no longer friends. "And no, I'm not Gaia," she said, remembering that Gaia was a metamorphmagus as well.

"I don't have time for this!" She snapped, She wasn't in the mood for games and that girl was really starting to piss her off big time. Narcissa was already in a bad mood to begin with - she was even worse now. She covered her eyes slightly as Lily's wand was almost at the same level as her face. That light was damn bright.

When she used Narcissa's nickname though that really got to her, Only family members got away with using. She pulled out her wand and pointed it at her. "Furnunculus!" Which if it hit her would cause the victim to become covered in boils. Usually Narcissa's aim was perfect but even she had her off days.

Lily didn't have time to dive aside or cast a shield charm, but thankfully as her light seemed to be affecting Narcissa it went off into the lake instead, which Lily could very easily have fallen in if she had tried to back away. She tore her eyes away from the water bubbling up. "Do you really think I want myself covered with boils?" she asked with a raised eyebrow even if it wasn't all that noticeable in the dark.

Normally she wouldn't have retaliated but then she remembered Narcissa had curse Gabriella.
"Avis Oppugno!" she said, pointing her wand at Narcissa. The spell cause a flock of birds to come out of her wand and attack who she desired. Her aunt Hermione had taught her that one.

Narcissa hated birds and she hadn't had time to react when Lily sent them at her. "Expelliarmus!" she shouted, pointing her wand at Lily. The choice of shoes she was wearing was defiantly not the best for being near the black lake. All she had to do was lose her balance and she would end up in the lake.

Lily watched as the birds attacked Narcissa and laughed, very much like her dad's Godfather Sirius would if he had attacked someone. It wasn't like Sirius because it was bark-like, but because she had the same brightness and defiance in her eyes. It was interrupted though when one of Narcissa's spells hit her and her wand went flying somewhere in the darkness. As it was lighted it was easy for her to spot and she went over to it and picked it up again.
